Privacy Policy

Mike Shultz Author | www.mikeshultzauthor.com

Effective date: October 12, 2026

Your privacy matters to me. This Privacy Policy explains how I, Mike Shultz ("I," "me," or "my"), collect, use, and share personal information through www.mikeshultzauthor.com and related email communications. It covers newsletter subscriptions, speaking inquiries, and your use of this website.

Information you choose to provide

Newsletter subscriptions. The newsletter form requests your first name, last name, email address, city, state or province, and country. First name and email address are marked as required. The form also asks you to confirm that you want to receive email updates and understand that you may unsubscribe. I use your name to personalize messages and the location information you provide to help share speaking events and appearances near you.

Speaking inquiries. The speaking form requests your contact name, email address, phone number, organization or church name, preferred contact method, event name, requested speaking date, date or time flexibility, event location, event type, and additional event information. Required fields are identified on the form. I use this information to evaluate the opportunity, discuss fit and availability, and communicate with you about the event.

Direct correspondence. If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever information you include in your message and attachments. Please provide only information relevant to your inquiry and avoid sending sensitive personal information that is not needed, including information about other people.

Information collected when you visit

This website is hosted by Squarespace. To display the site and operate, secure, and improve its services, Squarespace receives technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, referring pages, and pages visited. Squarespace also processes certain usage information for its own purposes, as described in its Privacy Policy: https://www.squarespace.com/privacy.

Cookies and similar technologies may be used to support website functionality, remember preferences, and, where enabled, measure website activity. The information collected depends on the features in use and your privacy choices. You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings and use any cookie preference controls offered on this website. Blocking cookies may affect some website functions.

How your information is used

I use the information described above to send updates you request about my books, website stories and reflections, releases, speaking engagements, and messages of faith, hope, and encouragement; respond to inquiries and coordinate speaking opportunities; maintain subscription preferences; operate and protect the website; and meet applicable legal obligations. Where website analytics are enabled, usage information helps me understand how visitors use the site and improve its content.

Email choices

Newsletter enrollment is based on the consent you provide through the subscription form. Submitting a speaking inquiry does not, by itself, give permission to add you to the newsletter.

You may unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in a marketing email or by emailing contact@mikeshultzauthor.com. I may retain limited information needed to honor your unsubscribe request. You may still receive a reply to an inquiry or communications needed to coordinate an event you have requested.

When information is shared

I do not sell your personal information or provide it to other organizations for their unrelated marketing purposes.

I use service providers to operate the website and support activities such as receiving and storing form submissions, delivering email, and managing subscriptions. These providers may process the information needed to perform those services. Sharing information with a provider for these functions is different from providing it to another organization for its own unrelated marketing. Squarespace’s own processing is described in the privacy policy linked above.

Information may also be disclosed if required by law or when reasonably necessary to respond to legal requests, protect legal rights, prevent fraud, or address security or safety concerns. I may share information at your request or with your permission.

Book purchases and external links

The website links to outside retailers, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop.org, and Walmart, where you can purchase my book. When you follow one of these links and make a purchase, the retailer collects and processes your order, payment, and delivery information under its own privacy policy. You do not submit payment details to me through those purchase links.

The website also links to social media and other external websites. Their operators control how information is collected and used on their services. Please review the privacy policies of the services you visit; this policy does not govern their practices.

How long information is kept

Personal information is retained for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy. This includes maintaining a requested subscription, responding to an inquiry, coordinating a speaking engagement, and meeting legal or recordkeeping obligations. Retention depends on the type of information, the purpose for which it was provided, and any ongoing relationship or legal requirement. Information no longer needed is deleted or de-identified, subject to necessary records and routine backup processes.

Protecting your information

I use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information I handle to help prevent unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No website, email service, or electronic storage system can guarantee complete security.

Your choices and requests

You may choose not to provide information, although I may be unable to send requested updates or respond to a speaking inquiry without the required details. You can ask to access, correct, or delete personal information I hold about you by emailing contact@mikeshultzauthor.com.

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have additional rights concerning your personal information, including receiving a copy, withdrawing consent, restricting or objecting to certain processing, or opting out of certain uses or disclosures. I will handle requests in accordance with applicable law. I may need to verify your identity before acting and may retain information when permitted or required by law.

If you disagree with a response to a privacy request, you can reply and request a review. Where applicable, you may also contact your privacy regulator. I will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.

Children’s privacy

This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, please contact me so I can investigate and delete it as appropriate.

International visitors

I operate from the United States. Service providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate, whose privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Applicable requirements for international data transfers remain in effect; using this website does not waive your privacy rights.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy as the website or my practices change. The effective date above identifies the latest version. I will provide additional notice or seek consent when required by applicable law.
